Ekphrasis means using the description of a work of visual art as a literary device, or can also mean just writing about images. What is a text and what is an image, and are poems a type of image? What kinds of strategies and approaches can poets use when they draw on or reference images or works of visual art in their poems? How does a poem change how we interpret and perceive images?
